ANNWYN - All about The Earth
At ANNWYN Botanicals we chose the name because ANNWYN is an old Celtic word for ‘the Otherworld', and our Celtic ancestors believed that in the Otherworld, all good things came, or grew, from beneath The Earth.
As a business formulating and manufacturing pure and natural plant based skincare products, and with a passion to deliver those products to as many people as possible, we are conscious of the need to protect the Earth, and be as ethical and green a business as possible.
We cannot claim to be entirely there yet, but we have made enoromous strides with our processes and packaging, and continue to work at this.

Natural ingredients
Formulated from natural and responsibly sourced botanicals, herbs and essential oils, with no harmful chemicals
Ingredients sourced responsibly, locally where possible and from Fairly Traded Women’s Cooperatives around the world
High % organic ingredients
All of our products are suitable for vegetarians and most are suitable for vegans (we use beeswax and honey extract in some of our products)
In line with our Ethical Policy in carefully sourcing our ingredients, nothing has been tested on animals. We are entirely cruelty free. We test our products within our own team and in wider groups with tester volunteers

Our packaging
At ANNWYN Botanicals we strive for an ‘Earth-Friendly’ approach as much to our packaging as to the ingredients we use in our formulations.
In 2018, Zero Waste Week, an annual awareness campaign, reported that more than 120 billion units of packaging is produced every year by the global cosmetics industry, most of which are not recyclable. The UN has predicted that if the current rate of waste production continues, by 2050 our oceans will carry more plastic than fish and an estimated 99% of seabirds will have ingested plastic. Earlier this year, they declared our current situation a “planetary crisis”,
Our first choice of packaging is to use recyclable amber glass, used also to maintain the integrity of our natural ingredients. Where safety is an issue, for example in a shower product, we have to use a different product.
We have sourced high quality, sustainably produced biopolymer bottles; they are recyclable, do not cause deforestation, are made from renewable raw materials, and do not increase atmospheric CO2. They cost us more, but we are happy to make this investment.
ANNWYN Botanicals recognises we have more to do to eliminate our plastic use completely but we are happy to be on our way and already making a difference.
